Upset
NORSU is rarely visited by celebrities from Manila, that’s why once the Norsunians hear that an actor/actress, teen star, singer, or band group is coming, you’d notice how excited they are to see these “idols”.
Last year, rock bands like Spongecola and Parokya ni Edgar came here. Singers like Kean Cipriano and Rhian Ramos also did. The Mr. & Ms. NORSU 2010 pageant was a must attended event as Rean Barrameda, a beauty titlist and Rene Salud, a famous designer of most celebrities graced the pageant as members of the board of judges.
Two years ago, the All-Star Basketball Team composed of Joross Gamboa, Joseph Bitanggol, Ian Veneracion, Bayani Agbayani, Onyok Velasco, and others invaded Macias Sports Complex, but were paid by the students of NORSU. I heard that each of the 10 players was paid P100, 000. Imagine the students’ money only went to these men who did nothing than to entertain the audience by exhibiting their “skills” in basketball?! But prior to it, when they visited the campus, the students were even barred from shaking the hands of these celebrities. Is that worth the hundred thousand or a million if we combine them all? I don’t think so.
This afternoon, at the film showing of “Watawat”, the Student Government who is in-charge for selling the tickets promised that actors Carlos Morales and Chin-chin Gutierrez will be coming to the school and will watch together with the audience of students. It was scheduled at 5pm, but the presentation started at 7:00pm already, because the waiting for the these celebrities stole our time.
Because of its price, I did not buy the ticket actually. If the SG aimed to generate income, and if they want to encourage students to watch the film for them to realize how the Philippine flag became an emblem of freedom, they should have lowered the price. They have to consider that Norsunians are poor.
In my part, since Ren, a friend offered me a ticket [for free], with no hesitation, I received it, though my intention of watching was not for the movie mainly but to see Chin-chin in person.
Yet, it only gave me disappointment, as the actress they said did not arrive, only Carlos Morales did and the other casts who I'm not familiar with. It gave me no interest to watch. Sorry to say but I also found the movie boring that’s why I went out of the gymnasium after 20 minutes.
Now I’m facing the computer, and posting what I feel.
