Longed places
“At any moment, our lives will be taken.”
I always told my self and some of my closest friends that before I die, I have to go to Bohol and Baguio. These two places sank in my mind last month. Of all the places in earth, why do I long to visit Bohol and Baguio?
First, why Bohol? I’ve been to different parts of the Central Visayas but never into this island province. What stirred up my interest are the unusual formation of 1776 Chocolate Hills which is an entry to the Seven Wonders of the World, the famous beaches of Bohol, the tarsiers, the river cruise, and its old churches which I’m sure are different from the other ancient structures I’ve seen.
Bohol is only near to my province but even once, I never had the chance to land in it. For me, it is like a “so close yet so far” episode that will only happen if someone will bring me there for free or with less expenses, haha, joking!
But my craving for Bohol is near to come true. this Sunday, August 29 will mark a history to my life as I and the rest of my batchmates will have a 2-day field trip in that place, spending only a more or less P2000 (back & forth fare, food, hotel, roving around the island). Thanks God for granting this wish of mine and to mama and papa who undoubtedly gave me money (for payment) and extra cash so I could buy a memorabilia from the place.
I can’t draw the excitemnt in my face since the fourth to the last day before leaving for Bohol. Here I come Bohol, hoh…
Second, why Baguio and not Manila, Tagaytay, Bicol, Vigan, or other places in Luzon? Because papa wanted to see how Baguio looks like. He told me this even before. So if ever I can find a jod with a better compensation, I want to bring my family to this cold place which is dubbed as the “Summer Capital of the Philippines”.
Papa is an agriculturist. Maybe what enticed him to visit Baguio is to find out how they grow their plants there, and see the plantation of “first class” vegetables and fruits in the place.
I love my papa so much that’s why I want to be the first to bring him to this place. I’m sure he will be very happy for this.
So before I die Lord, please give me the chance to bring my family to Baguio. If not now, I am willing to wait for the right time. Give me more years to stay here so I can save money to be used for the desired trip. Thank you Father.
