Appreciated surprises

I got inside the office tonight and Caroline, our cheerful business manager flashed a happy smile, greeted with the words “Dor, daghan na tang computer!” Wow, nice to hear that!

I glanced at the office interior and found the same color of paint on the wall, the chairs, tables, cabinets are still in its position; the computers are not stolen, the familiar faces are doing their usual stuffs, except for the thing on the first rack of the computer table.

It exists, but is not used for 2 months now. Tonight, a publication colleague is not only facing it, but is already using the editor’s computer. So it only means one thing—that the damage has been fixed. We’re more than happy with that. Since we’re increasing in number, thus, we really need lots of computers. Thanks to Kuya Pierce for his expertise in reformatting computers, fixing the hardware and software damages, and other things related to it.

Next, I’m happy for the new laptop bought by Tah Jeremiah, our editor in chief. Not only me, but majority of the staffers do because he has been a spendthrift for his whole life, and his aim of buying that expensive thing is now achieved. Wow, we’re proud of him. Could you imagine a student who could afford to buy a more or less P35, 000 worth of computer? I can’t even acquire a new phone, since I’m a certified wastrel.

Another thing I am glad for was on this night, a party goes on at the open courts. Hearing the Bisrock songs especially the one often sang by my barkadas— “Bisan pa” brings me back to my high school years, and the afternoons when I stay inside the house, sitting, reading, listening to these type of music.

Sometimes, happiness comes unexpectedly. And one thing sure about it is, it’s beyond price. I'm sure I'll have a sound sleep tonight.
