I supposed to return home right after handing the paper to a retired professor last night, but when I saw two of my board mates with uncle in front of the Convention Center, I stopped for a while and have a talk with them.

Then we came to the point of sharing not the joys in life, but the pains everyone is carrying inside. I and my board mates did not tell more of our stories, but uncle entrusted to open to us his love status, with his girlfriend. And I noticed that he has more to say.

So he started narrating to us, but I won’t write everything here. We promised to keep it as a secret. But I will still share a little especially for everyone who can relate to it.

He and his girlfriend have been together for four years, but as they stay longer, he gradually discovers who her partner really is, the attitude of the woman he never observed before and expected from her.

Then I came to know more of the melancholy he presently suffers and strives to overcome. His problem is that, he cannot tell to her woman, face to face that he has no feelings for her anymore, thus, he wants to end their relationship as early as now. But he lacks the courage to do so. According to him, he has been trying to keep the relationship but it is the girl who continues on disappointing him and gives him the reason to quit.

It was a serious conversation until we haven’t recognized that we consumed the one and half hour talking. But I never anticipated that uncle would believe on my advices, and he wants me to say more to open up his soundless mind, that it’s time to break the silence and start living a new life, a happier life.

If you look at uncle’s behavior, you can say that the woman is lucky enough to have him. She can seldom find a man like uncle this time, but because of the many times uncle caught her cheating, it made me react that what the woman did was wrong and unfair.

With that, I learned that you can give good counsel to people, even those who are older than you, if you know how to listen. Listen, listen, and listen and you can feel what they have inside.

Uncle is no more an 'other' person to us (me and co-boarders). Though I just knew him lately, it’s like I’ve met and known him since I study here. Uncle is only making himself miserable, so I want him to be happy, to get out from the chains of an imprisoned love story. Uncle doesn’t deserve a woman like her; he is too good to be with her, and I'm sorry to say that.
