Night's worry
When a thing important to you is lost, you’ll definitely feel uneasy and incomplete.
That’s what I felt last night when I found that my two (AAA) batteries were not in the battery case of my digital camera anymore. I really felt anxious, I can’t settle in one place, and honestly, I was mad to whoever gets it.
I cared for those batteries because it is important to me, to us. Those original batteries were product of my savings. I was even hesitant to buy it when I knew of its price, but when I thought that it’s for “long lasting” use and purpose, I acquired it.
I seldom stay at the boarding house during day time, so I texted my roommate if somebody has scratched my things inside the drawer. I texted her several times, but she didn’t reply. I was done taking shower, but still, I received no text message from her.
I looked for my closest male board mate (my paryente) to ask if he saw somebody getting inside the room the whole day, but he was not there. He just left to play video games in an internet café. So I texted him. He replied that he was not able to spot of who gets in.
That’s it! My world gets gloomy, my head started boiling. I wanted to shout. I almost cry, but suddenly, my phone rang.
To be honest, I really hate answering calls especially from an unknown number. So I didn’t answer it. And besides, I don’t want to talk that time because I’m mad and sad.
Minutes had passed then someone texted, from the same number which called me. The girl said that “Ibeng” (my roommate, as she call her) placed the batteries in the remote control of her dvd player. According to the girl, her [Ibeng] batteries got soaked that’s why she got those batteries of mine from my cam.
Then why didn’t she ask permission from me? It would be okay if she informed me first that she’ll be using it so I won’t get worried. Even if we’re roommates, there should be respect of properties. It may only be “batteries”, but it’s more that mere batteries for me.
The girl again texted “sensya na daw ingun Ibeng” but I still need to talk with her. I understand that it’s human to commit errors, to miss asking the owner’s say-so if you want to borrow a thing, but this should not be tolerated.
I can forgive for I’m only human too. I know I’ve also done the same, but I now realize and I learn from it. I want her to also learn the same lesson.
