Preserved memories
Collecting P7.00 fare and repeating the words “Ang KIA mudawat nag trade-in…” are just two of the short-time habits I will always miss from the 1-month internship at Cebu.
Every time we ride in a jeep from the office going back to the boarding house, I was often the one acting as “konduktor” and collect the fares not only of my classmates, but of other passengers too. It sounds funny, but I just love doing it.
The latter was taken from the “Tapok-tapok sa KIA” at Gorordo every Friday. Straight four Fridays, I attended the live on-air talk show of senior mediamen and guest authorities and politicians. The usual hosts are Sir Sam and Sir Efren, but there was this liaison officer of KIA who has his break to advertise the latest service of the motor company—trade-in of old vehicles to a new one. I forgot his name but he’s already old, yet he keeps on working at KIA and is still one of the trusted employees of the company.
Let me share his line which is now stored in my head…”Oh mga higala, aduna’y maayung balita.
Oh I miss that OJT now. I wish to have another training for another worthwhile experience and memories.
